James Wilson was born in London in 1922. He joined the Civil Service in 1939 and during World War 11 served in the Royal Navy. His travels caused him to fall in love with Ireland where he settled and took Irish nationality shortly before his death in 2005. He wrote three symphonies, concertos for horn harpsichord, four flutes, violin, cello and clarinet, some outstanding chamber music and several award-winning operas as well as excellent song cycles. DW
