This Sonata won first prize in the Waltham Forest Contemporary Music Competition in Summer 1966. The first public performance was given that year by Mary Cotton (oboe) and Philip Martin (piano).

Evocation Op. 14; Sound-Piece for Clarinet and Piano - Neville Bower.
One of three "essays" in his new style, the others being Ecstasy and Glory. The BBC panel accepted it for broadcast on Radio 3 at the second submission. The first performance was actually by Jeremy Goldstone (clarinet) and the composer (piano) at a composers' concert in 1982. The first broadcast performance was with Jack Brymer (clarinet) and Ian Lake.


Dance of Life Op. 28; Sound-Piece for Viola and Piano - Neville Bower. Performed by Paul Silverthorne, viola, and Julian Jacobson, piano, on Radio 3 in 1986.
